The
Proactive Communication Station 50 (PCS 50) is a software application,
that enables the full
power of the Proactive Communication Station 400 hard phone, to
be delivered on a Macintosh, Windows, or Linux platform. This
application can run either as a software based telephone, with
a compatible computer headset and microphone. Alternatively it
can operate in partnership with a standard analogue telephone.
This enables a company to deploy identical Proactive Communication
Station functionality to every user of the system at a very cost
effective price.
For voice
communications, the PCS application provides all the features
associated with a top of
the range digital phone, for making and receiving calls. Where
business phones have traditionally
provided context sensitive keys around a small display, the PCS
application uses a
large, context sensitive display (presented on the computer screen)
and clear icons, similar to a mobile phone, to assist the user
with use of the phones additional features and functions.
The use of
a large display also enables the PCS application to present real
time video and share
graphical information whilst a call is in progress. For example,
a call from a door entry phone
could trigger the picture from an adjacent video or web camera
to be displayed on the screen of
the PCS 50 user. Support for a full Web browser within the PCS
application enables it to display on the same screen company wide
Intranet or web based applications and thus seamlessly support
core business applications or processes at the desktop. |
